I am Mukesh Patel, an accomplished professional and newly appointed Minister of the Water Resources and Water Supply Department in the Government of Gujarat.

With a passion for public service and a strong track record of delivering results, I am committed to addressing the acute drinking water scarcity that Gujarat has been facing due to recurrent droughts, low rainfall, and skewed distribution patterns.

In my current role, I am putting leading efforts to provide long-term solutions to achieve water security through investing in sustainable surface sources and rural water supply schemes. My main objective is to ensure that every citizen of Gujarat, including General, Scheduled Tribal, and Scheduled Caste populations, has regular access to safe and adequate drinking water and other household purposes through various means such as hand pumps, individual water supply schemes, regional/group water supply schemes, mini-programs based on electric or solar energy, internal distribution water supply schemes, recharging of underground sources, and roof top rainwater tanks.

I am proud to say that under my leadership, numerous water supply projects for 31 cities in Gujarat have been taken up for execution. We have also implemented regional water supply schemes to ensure that adequate and potable drinking water is supplied to villages where local drinking water sources yield insufficient water or water is non-potable. These schemes are based on reliable sources like tube wells or surface water sources and are made available by electric or solar-based pumps.

As a department, we are committed to ensuring sustainable water supply and sanitation services in Gujarat to accomplish basic health and hygiene levels, leading to socio-economic development, communal harmony, and peace in society. We cover various subjects, including water supply, sewerage, geohydrology, water quality, materials, finance, and capacity building. I am committed to leading this department with the utmost professionalism and dedication to serving the people of Gujarat.
