Climate change Awarness
Climate change is a global issue that is rapidly increasing in importance as the Earth’s temperature continues to rise.
I am honoured to introduce myself and my department to you all. Gujarat, being the state with the longest coastline in India, is more susceptible to climate change impacts. The state lies exposed to sea level rise, changes in sea surface temperatures, and increased cyclonic activity in the Arabian Sea. My department is working towards mitigating and adapting to these changes and promoting the use of renewable energy sources like solar and wind energy, electric vehicles, and CNG to reduce pollution and emissions.
We have formulated new policies and introduced various schemes to focus on all aspects of a clean, pure, and green environment, and water conservation. The department is working towards building a sustainable and climate-resilient future for the people of Gujarat.
Our government has taken a pioneering step in Asia by establishing the first-ever full-fledged Climate Change Department at the sub-national level. The department acts as a bridge between the government and society to address climate change. Gujarat is the first and only state in India, the first in Asia, and the fourth in the world to form an independent department for Climate Change.
Our department is motivating and encouraging the youth to use new technology and innovative ideas to contribute to climate change. We have introduced various documentaries and awareness programs to spread knowledge about the importance of climate change.
As the Minister of the Climate Change Department, I am committed to working towards a better future for the people of Gujarat. I believe that together, we can build a sustainable and climate-resilient state.
